Journal #25:Ascender, baseline, and descender

Baseline: The invisible line which all text sits on

Descender: Any part of a letter which falls below the baseline

Ascender: Any part of a letter which climbs above the baseline

In the example above, letters c & x do not leave the baseline or climb above the X-height line (meaning they have no descender or ascender); letters p & h go below the baseline and above the X-height line respectively (meaning that p has a descender, and h has an ascender)
