Journal #9: Space

Space can be sorted into two categories: negative space, and positive space. Negative space refers to the unfilled part of a design, where there is nothing but a void of color. Positive space refers to the field part of a design, where many shapes and lines with curves or points dance around on the page. Both are important, and typically (I would guess, anyway) when designing designers will consider both spaces heavily; in other words, blank isn't just blank by coincidence, it is deliberately left open and untouched. Below is an example of a B&W design that represents both negative and positive space.
